John OlsonPresident and CEO
It all started for me when I was recruited into Offshore Yachts by the company founders, Richard and Robert Hunt, in 1992. I quickly learned why the Hunts were so respected in the industry from their knowledge to their integrity to the amazing brand they developed. They both became important mentors for me and I credit them with much of our success to this day. At the business office in Costa Mesa, I learned as much I could under their guidance, working in accounting, billing, project costing, parts procurement, commissioning, and assisting with client orders.
After less than two years in Costa Mesa, I was sent to the Newport Beach sales office to become involved in what I truly enjoy—selling. This was a wonderful opportunity and working with yachting novices and old salts on a daily basis really gave me the bug. As I gained experience, Offshore Yachts gave me the task of locating a dealer on the East coast to service the growing national demand for Offshores. In 1995, a new dealer was established in Ft. Lauderdale. This expansion increased demand even further and presented us with the tremendous challenge of handling both the wholesale and retail sides of the business here in Newport. With the company growing, I was offered the opportunity to become the dealer in Newport Beach. That marked the beginning of Offshore West, Inc. in 1996.
In 2009, OWI became the sole dealer in North America, and we opened a new office in the Ft. Lauderdale area and have expanded our reach with the strategic partnership of Luke Brown Yachts for sales and marketing for the entire east coast.
I really love my family. The adventures and travel with my wife Carrie, and kids - Mallory, Samantha and Connor draw parallels with the yachting lifestyle and OWI.
My goal has always been to provide our clients the finest product and service, but what really drives me is the great family environment we have created. People feel welcome at Offshore West and I love that we can contribute to the family and fun adventures that our clients will certainly have on the water.
I am confident that our great crew can handle any client needs with a level of knowledge, integrity, and service that will exceed their expectations. Hopefully you can experience the fun and adventure that we aim to provide. We would appreciate the opportunity to assist you in your search for the yacht of your dreams. Please call me at (949) 678-0269 or e-mail me at email@example.com whenever you need assistance. Sincerely, John Olson
Chris MurraySales Associate (Newport Beach, CA)
Chris Murray has been with Offshore West for over twenty years, joining us as a Sales Associate in 1996 in the earliest days of the company. He's never looked back.
Growing up on the shores of Newport Beach, Chris was raised with an overriding passion for boats. His father's fleet included a 30' Scarab, an 18' Mako, a rebuilt 15' classic electric boat, as well as several sailboats.
His favorite youthful experiences included spending time on the family's 53' Hatteras Sportfish "Charro," cruising to Catalina Island during summers, and making it as far south as Cabo San Lucas on longer winter trips.
Those early experiences, and his experience at Offshore West, led him to a partnership arrangement in an older Offshore 62, where he spends time "puttering" and upgrading its systems. He has extensive experience boating both the West Coast and East Coast of the United States.
What he loves about working with Offshore West, particularly in sales, is spending his workdays doing what most other boaters only get to do on weekends, vacations, or at retirement. And after over twenty years working with Offshore West, he knows our boats, he knows our business inside and out, and he knows and appreciates our community of Offshore Owners.
When he's not working or out on his Offshore 62, Chris enjoys golfing, working on his 17' whaler, and spending time with his family at home in Huntington Beach.
Chris would be delighted to share the Offshore experience with you.
Diane KohlhaasOffice Manager (Newport Beach, CA)
Born and raised in Anaheim Hills, Diane joined Offshore West in 2001 as our Office Manager.
Diane came to us after a successful thirteen-year career in the hospitality industry with the Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach, where she earned its prestigious President’s Club award, the company's highest achievement for its Sales Managers.
As Office Manager at Offshore West, Diane masterfully handles thousands of details to keep our office humming and our Offshore Owners happy. Not only does she manage the day-to-day operations, update our websites, and provide information to Offshore Owners or customers when they call or visit the office, she also coordinates New Boat Arrival with United States Customs for clearance into the U.S. from the Kha Shing Shipyard in Taiwan.
Her passion for the job is obvious in her event planning skills. Diane delights in arranging and overseeing Offshore’ s participation in boat shows and industry events, as well as VIP parties and Offshore Rendezvous. From venues to meals, invitations to RSVPs, she juggles thousands of details and makes it look easy. Satisfaction for Diane is watching all of the details and hard work crystallize into a successful event as people start arriving, socializing, having fun, and sharing their Offshore stories.
An avid traveler, Diane shares our Offshore owners’ sense of adventure. She’s also an avid cook and gardener, devoted to French kitchen (potager) gardening. She’s visited 20 countries so far, and is passionate to learn French, Spanish, and Italian to dive deeper into the cultures and countries she visits.
Diane sums up her philosophy with a quote attributed to St. Augustine: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.”
Rojo LomeliService Manager
When you purchase a yacht through Offshore West, you will be fortunate to have your yacht pass through the extraordinarily capable and meticulous hands of Rojo Lomeli, our Service and Commissioning Manager.
Rojo is an Offshore expert with more experience with Offshore Yachts than almost anyone, having originally joined Offshore Yachts in 1986 and moved over to Offshore West in 1996. There is little he doesn't know about keeping your boat seaworthy and performing beyond your expectations.
His primary responsibilities include commissioning new Offshore yachts and supervising any service, maintenance, or operations issues our customers might need. His greatest satisfaction is sharing the joy our new owners experience when they take delivery of their new yacht.
"My goal," Rojo has said, "is to prepare each boat for many, many years of owner enjoyment. I also invite every new owner to walk through their boat with me personally until they are completely comfortable with the function and condition of their new yacht."
Rojo lives in Santa Ana with his wife Emma, and two children Isaac and Linda.
One additional note—although Rojo was born on the same day and in the same year as Offshore West president John Olson, John states emphatically that this coincidence has had nothing to do with Rojo's great success and popularity at Offshore West.
